Mark Cartmill has been the Director of Athletics at Berea College since 2008. Along with his appointment in the Athletic Department, Cartmill is also the Director of the Seabury Center, the college's wellness and recreation facility.
Cartmill came to Berea in the fall of 2008 with an extensive background in coaching, teaching and athletics administration at the College level. He served as the Director of Recreation and Athletics and was the men's head basketball coach at Paul Smith's College in New York for 16 years. Prior to that, he was assistant director of recreation and athletics and men's basketball coach at the University of Maine at Augusta for four years. He also served as athletics director and head men's basketball coach at College of St. Joseph in Vermont for several years. He holds a bachelor's degree in physical education from St. Lawrence (N.Y.) University and a master's degree in physical education from Western Carolina University.
He and his wife, Lori, reside in Berea.
