The Berea College Sports Network is the broadcast network used to capture all of the exciting athletic moments in the Seabury Arena. The BCSN covers all men and women’s basketball games, as long as volleyball games in the fall. In the past, they have also found a way to cover baseball and softball games at the Berea College Sports Complex, but have been unable to lately due to a lack of an internet connection down at the complex.
Nate Metz, a native of Beloit, Wisconsin- former home of men’s basketball coach John Hemenway, is a two sport athlete and student director of media relations and broadcasting. He has been the main broadcast host for all sporting events broadcasted here at Berea College for the last four years, and will be finishing up his degree, and broadcasting career, in December of 2016. In his second year of broadcasting, he was the recipient of the Harry Barfield Award, which is given to the top student broadcaster in the state of Kentucky from the Kentucky Broadcasters Association. He plays golf in the fall and pitches for the baseball team in the spring. He also co-hosts the show The Changeup with Jamie Boggs every Thursday from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Berea’s radio station WBER.
Nate has had several different broadcasting partners for athletic events over the last four years, including the wonderful talents of Ben Piercefield, Jamie Boggs, Joe “Deuce” Saleem, Ryan Schnellenberger, Brian Hill, Keith Bullock, and Ryan Hess. Although there have been several different people throughout the years in the broadcast booth, he is always looking for exciting faces to put on screen to make the BCSN an exciting place to go and watch your favorite Berea College sports from the comfort of your home.
If you, or anyone you know would like to be a part of the Berea College Sports Network team, in either talent or production, you can contact Nate Metz on his phone number of 608.346.6377 or by email at Metzn@berea.edu.
