The honors keep rolling in for Berea College Men's Basketball. Earlier in the evening, Richard Parker picked up First Team All-American Honors and Daishon Robinson claimed Honorable Mention All-American honors at the USCAA Championship Banquet. Then it was head coach, John Hemenway's turn, when he accepted the final honor of the night. Hemenway was named 2014-2015 USCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Coach of the Year.
An emotional Hemenway shared, "I am really happy for Daishon and Rich and the entire team. We have been a close group all year and individual awards are really team awards. I am also humbled with my honor. My guys won me this. They have been great all year; along with my assistant coach Rudy Evans."
Hemenway has guided the Mountaineers to one of the best seasons in program history that dates back to 1927. The Mountaineers are currently 19-5 and were ranked second in the USCAA Division I Coaches Top-20 poll for most of the season. They enter the National Championships as the number two seed. Hemenway has a career record of 194-118 a .621 winning percentage, including a 79-69 record in his five season at Berea College.
