Berea, KY - The Berea College Mountaineers men's basketball team increased their win streak to four games with their win tonight against the Kights of Kentucky Christian University. The Mountaineers took tonight's contest by a score of 94-75.
Berea got out to a quick start thanks to two layups, one from Anthony Myrks and the other from Corey Wise, along with a three point basket by Richard Parker, giving the Mountaineers a 7-0 advantage. The Knight went on a rally of there own scoring the next seven points to tie the game 7-7. KCU would go onto take their only lead of the game at the 14:51 mark, 10-9. A Parker jump shot started a 10-1 run for the Mountaineers giving them a 19-11 lead with 11:18 left to play in the first half. The Mountaineers held the momentum to take a ten point lead into the locker room at the half.
Leading the way for Berea in the first half was Parker with 13 points, nine of which would come from behind the arc. Myrks and Wise also scored in double digits adding adding 10 each. Shawn Williams lead under the glass for the Mountaineers with four rebounds.
The Mountaineers continued to add to their lead in the second half much in part by shooting 75% from behind the arc. Berea got their biggest advantage of the game with 4:04 left to play off a Parker three point shoot making the score 86-65. In the end it was all Berea as they would go onto win by nineteen points, 94-75.
Leading the way for the Mountaineers was Parker finishing with 33 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Two other Mountaineers finished in the double digit scoring with Myrks finishing with 18 and Wise with 16. Myrks also added 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals on the night.
Berea will be back in action on Thursday, January 21st as they head to Circleville, OH to take on the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers, Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm.
