The Mountaineers and The Scots played a back and forth game at Maryville. The Mountaineers ultimately lost to The Scots but put up a valiant effort on the road. The Mountaineers ended up shooting better than the Scots, but the Scots were able to make more baskets beyond the arc to get the win.

The Mountaineers in the 1st half was led by Freshman Andrew Doty, scoring 10 points and getting 3 boards. Both Freshman Isaac Caudill and Sophomore Deandre Lightfoot added 9 and 8 points respectively. The Mountaineers shot 50% from the field and 33% beyond the arc. However, The Scots took a 45-37 lead into the half.

The Mountaineers in the 2nd half was led by the reigning USA South Rookie of the Year Torell Carter with 10 points. Freshman Andrew Doty and Sophomore Deandre Lightfoot added 8 points each. The Mountaineers continued their impressive shooting from the field, finishing 46.7% from the field in the half. Ultimately, The Mountaineers fell to The Scots 89-79, handing them their 6th conference loss.

The Mountaineers have struggled out of the gate in 2019, failing to get a win so far in the New Year. The Mountaineers will be looking to get a win against the Brevard Tornados Wednesday January 16th at home.
