Men's Tennis Drop Season Opener on the Road Against UVA-Wise

Wise, VA - The Berea College men's tennis team opened up their season on the road against the University of Virginia-Wise last weekend.  This was the first match under the Mountianeer's new head Coach, Johann St. John.   The Mountaineers traveled with a light squad and in the end they fell short to the Cavs 9-0.  The Scores from the match can be seen below:

Singles:

  1. Vlad Akimenko (UVA Wise) deaf. Zachary White (Berea) – 6-2, 6-0
  2. Andrii Rutnytskyi (UVA Wise) deaf. Joel Deutscher (Berea) – 6-1, 6-3
  3. Oleg Kopychenko (UVA Wise) def. Clayton Cooper (Berea) – 6-0 , 6-0
  4. Victor Tunnikov (UVA Wise) def. James Weaver (Berea) – 6-1, 6-1
  5. Chris Armistead (UVA Wise) def. Dylan Imbus (Berea) – 6-0, 6-0
  6. Number 6 singles was forfeited by Berea College
 Doubles:

  2. Oleg Kopychenko/Victor Tunnikov (UVA Wise) def. Joel Deutscher/James Weaver – 8-1
