COLUMBUS, OH- The Berea College men's track and field team traveled to the Rick Meindl Invitational hosted by Capital University this past Saturday. The Mountaineers hit the track with success once again.
Sprinters Issac Domenech and Wesley Saintilnord both placed in the top finishers of the 200m. Saintilnord finished 12th with a time of 23.56 and Domenech finished 23rd with a time of 23.95. There were 106 competitors in the 200m. Domenech also had a successful 400m race, bringing home a 12th place finish with a time of 52.95.
Emmanuell Kemei brought heat to the track during the 800m yet again. Kemei took the first place finish with a time of 1:57.08. He was followed by his teammates Tanner Carson and Isaiah Dodson who finished 3rd and 7th with times of 2:01.89 and 2:03.12. Dodson and Carson made another impressive appearance in the mile, bringing home 2nd and 12th place finishes. Teammate Brandon "Dio" Yearout also had an impressive race in the mile, finishing with a PR of 5:27.32. Dylan Watkins continued the PR setting with his 3k in a time of 9:16.36, finishing 6th out of 34 competitors. Dave Bell had a record breaking performance in the 500m running a 1:12.51 and nipping the pervious school record by .20 seconds.
The night ended with a 3rd place finish by the men's 4x400 made up of Issac Domenech, Dave Bell, Wesley Saintilnord, and Emmanuel Kemei with a time of 3:32.71. The men finished 7th overall as a team out of the 19 teams that competed at the meet.
The Mountaineers will compete at the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational in Anderson, Indiana this weekend to bring an end to their indoor season. The meet is set to start at 3:00 pm.
