Mountaineers Compete in the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational

Cedarville, OH- The Berea College men's indoor team traveled to Cedarville University to compete in the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational.  The men placed 4th as a team in the competitive meet. 

Dave Bell took 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 6.20m (20-4.25). Luck was not on the Mountaineers side in the relay events.  In the 4x200 the men failed to complete the exchange and was disqualified.  On the third leg of the 4x400 Caleb Flege swung wide to move the Mountaineers into 2nd but in the process got tangled and fell to the track.  Caleb popped back up and held onto fifth place.  Other members of the team included, Dave Bell, Casey Monti and Corbin Flege

Casey Monti finished 6th in the 800m with teammate Caleb Flege finishing quickly after in 8th.  Monti also was able to score in the mile with a 5th place finish and a time of 4:35.2.  In the 5k all four of Berea's runners scored with Landon Bond leading the way.  Bond's time of 16:17.28 was the fastest time of the collegiate runners and he was 3rd overall.  Raymond McKinney was 6th overall (16:50.64), Nathan Smith was 7th (16:55.52) and Matthew Sargent was grabbed the last point spot with a time of 18:04.29.

 Aaron Effoe posted a personal best time of 7.00 in the 55 meters.  Richard Brayton and Austin Moore finished just outside of scoring in the shot put with throws of 10.39m and 10.00m.

The Indoor track team will travel to the University of Indianapolis for the second time this season to compete in the Indianapolis Team Invitational on February 11th.
