Berea, KY – The Men's Cross Country team got a chance to compete at home this weekend in the Berea College Beverly Harkleroad Invitational. The Mountaineers finished 1st out of 11 teams competing ahead of Centre, Bryan, Tennessee Wesleyan, Cumberland (Tenn), Lindsey Wilson, Georgetown, Transylvania, Union, Kentucky State and Pikeville. This is the second week in a row the Men's Cross Country team has won after winning at Centre last weekend.
The Berea College course is a true cross country course with lots of rolling hills, trails and even two creek crossings. Leading the men for the 3rd week in a row was Jeremy Johnson finishing 4th with a time of 26:41. He was followed closely by Logan McKenzie in 6th (27:04), Emmauell Kemmei in 10th (27:27), Joseph Carrick 12th (28:16) and Tanner Carson 14th (28:30).
Other finishers for the Mountaineers included Casey Monti 15th (28:41), Zachary Raab in 23rd (29:31), Luis Gonzalez26th (29:40), Kyle Young 27th (29:49), Isaiah Dodson 30th (30:06), Caleb Flege 43rd (30:46), Dave Bell 44th (30:56), Richard Foley 45th (30:56) and Jerrod Arnold 59th (32:08).
"The men ran a great race and were able to win their 2nd home meet title in a row placing 6 in the top 15," said assistant coach Shawn Jakubowski. "This is a team that is running great and we look for that trend to continue going into the Greater Louisville Classic. All in all it was a great day for both the men and women's teams."
The Men and Women will be back in action on October 3 at the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.
