Berea, KY – The men's cross country team started their season off with a win at the 2nd annual Berea/Centre College Jamboree. The Mountaineers finished 1st place with 21 points, and the team ran an average 5k of 16:02.
Berea placed 7 runners in the top 20 with sophomore Logan Mckenzie leading the way with an impressive time of 15:20, earning him 1st place overall. Following him was sophomore Landon Bond, placing 2nd, and running 15:46. Coming in 5th and 6th place were Tanner Carson, sophomore, finishing in 16:18, and freshman Kerry Jones with a 16:22. Very close behind was another mountaineer, junior, Corbin Flege running 16:25, earning him 7th place. Juniors Kyle Young and Emmaneull Kemmei also placed in the top 20, both breaking 17:00. Young finished in 14th place and ran 16:47 and Kemmei ran 16:59 and placed 17th. Other finishers for the mountaineers included Caleb Flege 19th (17:02), Zachary Raab 21st (17:06), and Dio Yearout 61st (20:02).
The Mountaineers and Colonels continued their tradition at the 2st annual Berea/Centre meet. The two teams were scored separate as a dual meet and the winner was awarded with "the cup". This trophy will travel back to the winner's campus each year. The trophy continues to stay in Berea this year as the Mountaineers topped the Colonels.
The Mountaineers will be back in action Saturday, September 16th starting with the women's race at 10:00am, then the men's race following at 11:00.
