Owesnboro, KY – The Berea College men's cross country team competed in the Fast Cats Classic hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan. Our men's team placed 1st overall and first in the Kentucky Cup. The Mountaineers posted a team average of 26:47 to win the meet by two points over Christian Brothers University.
The men's team was led with another incredible performance by sophomore, Logan McKenzie. McKenzie fought with the lead pack for three miles before putting in a surge to run away from the field. His time of 25:16 was 15 seconds faster than the runner up. This was the 3rd race that Mckenzie has won this season. Sophomore, Tanner Carson ran second on the Mountaineers winning squad placing 7th overall with a time of 26:26. Finishing just 16 seconds behind Carson was sophomore Landon Bond running a time of 26:42. Emmanuell Kemmei finished fourth for the Mountaineers crossing the line in 29th place (27:44). Rounding out the scoring for Berea was Freshman Kerry Jones. Jones finished 30th just two seconds behind Kemmei (27:46). Other finishers for the Mountaineers included Kyle Young 28:01 (40th) and Corbin Flege, running 29:28 (68th).
Berea will travel to Wilmington, OH to race in the #JennaStrong Invitational on Friday, October 13th.
