Mountaineers Win Both Double Header Games Against Alice Lloyd

Pippa Passes, KY- In their last away contest of the regular season, Berea won both games of the double header series against Alice Lloyd. Berea also won both games when the Eagles came to play the Mountaineers at home early in the season.

In the first game, Berea started out strong by scoring 4 runs compared to Alice Lloyd's 1 run in the first inning. The second inning was scoreless, then Alice Lloyd scored one run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. But Berea did not let up, scoring 3 more runs in the 6th inning. Even though Alice Lloyd scored two runs in the seventh inning, Berea did not give them a chance to tie the game up, leaving the final score 7-6.  Lilian Setters, Hannah Carter, Kourtney Parker, Mercedes Stanfield, Morgan McClure, Cheyanna Johnson, and Madison Stanfield all scored a run. Berea had 34 at bats, 6 out of the 7 runs were hits, there were 5 RBIs, and 4 walks. Katelyn Blair pitched 3 innings and Jacquelyne Howard pitched 4 innings. Combined they had 7 hits and 6 runs.

The second game saw even better results. Berea won by an impressive 12 points. The final score was 15-3. Berea scored in every single inning and held Alice Lloyd scoreless in every inning except for the third, forcing the game to end in the fifth inning. Every single Berea player scored at least one run except for the pitcher. The team high was a tie with both Hannah Carter and Mercedes Stanfield scoring 3 runs each. Berea had 32 at bats, 14 of the 15 runs were hits, there were 12 RBIs, and 5 walks. Taylor Flowers pitched the whole game and only had 9 hits. 

Come out and Support the Mountaineers in their final game of the season on Saturday, April 30 against Saint Mary of the Woods College. The first pitch of the first game is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
