Manchester, IN - The Berea College women's basketball team traveled to Indiana to play in the Main View Tip Off Classic hosted by Manchester University. In day one of action the Mountaineers lost 61-89 to the University of Wis.-Whitewater.
Berea started off on the right track in the first quarter holding the Warhawks to a tie score of 20-20. In the second quarter the Warhawks outscored the Mountaineers 23-12 to give them a 43-32 halftime lead. Leading Berea in the first half was Adriana Williams with 11 points and 5 rebounds.
In the 3rd quarter the Warhawks continued right where they left off outscoring Berea 25-15 to increase their lead to 21 going into the 4th quarter. In the last quarter of play Berea could not dig themselves out of the 21 point deficit and the Warhawks walked away with a 89-61 point victory. Adriana led Berea in the second half as well with 10 points followed closely by Zacchea Small with 9 points.
The biggest difference in the games was on turnovers and 3-Pt. FG%. Berea only shot 16.7 percent from behind the arc and had 21 turnovers compared to the Warhawks 46.2 percent and 13 turnovers.
The Mountaineers are back in action in the Main View Tip Off Classic tomorrow at 1:00 PM where they face Carroll (Wis.) University.
