Berea, KY - The Berea women's soccer team lost a very close match to USCAA opponent, Warren Wilson College. Both teams battled back and forth on the field but in the end Warren Wilson was able to grab the 2-1 win over Berea. This loss leaves the Mountaineers at 5-5-0 for the season so far.
The Owls struck first in with 5:52 seconds left in the first half. In the second half Warren Wilson struck first again this time on a penalty at the 20:10 mark in the second half. Then with only 5:28 left in the game Riley Wolf took a very deep shot that bounced over the goalkeeper's head and into the net. This shot gave Berea some extra momentum and the game started to get very intense as both teams fought hard till the final horn. The Mountaineers fought all the way to the end but fell short 2-1.
Berea and Warren Wilson both took ten shots each during the game. Amber Follin picked up five saves on the day for the Mountaineers. The only Berea goal of the day was scored by Riley Wolf. Wolf usually plays goalie for the Mountaineers but saw some time on the field today and scored her first goal of the season.
The women's soccer team will be back in action at home on October 12 at 5:00 PM at the Berea College Sports Complex.
