Berea, KY - The Berea College women's soccer team took to the road this evening to take on Johnson University in Knoxville, TN. The Mountaineers defeated the Royals 6-0 increasing their season record to 7-5-0. This win marks the Mountaineers second win in 24 hours as they defeated KCU just last night at home 4-1.
Even with having to play two games in 24 hours the Mountaineers came out ready to play. At 26:50 Layne Callow put Berea on the scoreboard first, she was assisted by Sohara Perez. Not long after (38:30) Stevie Reidley found Jacquie Zimmerman for the second goal of the game. With only fifteen seconds left in the first half Zimmerman was able to put another one in the net, this time being assisted by Keisha Guffey.
The second half went much like the first for the Mountaineers. Maci New struck first for Berea in the second half (49:29) being assisted by Jacquie Zimmerman. Zimmerman continued her impressive night when teammate Sohara Perez assisted her on completing her third goal of the game at the 56:36 mark. The Mountaineers finished the night when Maci New scored (77:07) on an assist from Zimmerman.
Zimmerman would end the night with a hat trick and two assists. Berea put up nineteen shots with twelve being on goal compared to the seven shots with five on goal Johnson had.
The Mountaineers will head to Decatur, GA on October 17th where they will take on Agnes Scott at 11:00 AM.
