Mountaineers Fall Short on the Road this Weekend

Decature/Demorest, GA - The Berea College women's soccer team traveled south to Georgia to take on the Agnes Scott Scotties and the Piedmont Lions.  Both institutions are members of the NCAA Division III.  The Mountaineers were unable to get a road win and lost to Agnes Scott 4-1 and Piedmont 6-0.  These losses dropped the women to a 7-7-0 record for the year.

In the first game the Scotties got off to a quick start and scored the first three goals of the game in the first half.  The second goal was an own goal error by the Mountaineers.  Not long into the second half the Scotties struck again taking the score to 4-0 at 49:58 mark.  With about seven minutes left in the game Berea was able to find the back of the net with a pass from Sohara Perez to Stevie Reidley.  That goal would be the only goal for the Mountaineers as they went on to lose 4-1 to the Scotties.

Agnes Scott put up twenty-five shots compared to the eight that Berea had.  Berea goalie Amber Follin picked up nine saves on the evening.

The next day the Mountaineers would travel to Demorest, GA to take on the Piedmont Lions.  This game did not prove to be any better for the Mountaineers as they struggled for the second day in a row and were only able to put up two shots compared to the twenty-nine that the Lions had.  The Lions would score three goals in the first half and then go on to score three more goals (one being a penalty Kick) in the second half ending in a 6-0 Mountaineer loss.

Berea will be back at home on Tuesday, October 20th against Ferrum College.  The game is set to start at 4:00 PM at the Berea Sports Complex.
