Berea, KY - The Berea College women's soccer team took on the Johnson University Royals on Saturday. The Mountaineers picked up a 4-0 win against the Royals on Berea's senior night. This win put the Mountaineers at 8-8-0 for the year.
Senior, Layne Callow came out ready to play in one of her last home games of her college career. Layne scored the first two goals of the game and gave the Mountaineers a 2-0 early lead. Her first goal came at 40:34 and her second was at 25:24, the second goal was assisted by Stevie Reidley. Stevie scored a goal of her own not long after her assist. This came at 23:07 and was assisted by Jacquie Zimmerman. Stevie's goal gave the mountaineers a 3-0 lead going into the half.
In the second half (37:05) Stevie was again able to find the back of the net, this time being assisted by senior Layne Callow. The rest of the game would remain scoreless and the Mountaineers would get the 4-0 win on senior night.
Overall the Mountaineers outshot the Royals 23-6. Berea was able to hold Johnson to only one shot in the second half.
Berea will be back in action at home this Thursday (10/27/15) for their last regular season game. The Mountaineers will be taking on the Cincinnati Christian University Eagles. On October 27th at 5:00 PM they find out if they will get a spot at the USCAA National Championships in Asheville, NC.
