Berea, Ky – The Berea College women's soccer team traveled to Knoxville, TN to take on the Johnson University Royals. Coming off a 8-0 win on Sunday the Mountaineers carried the momentum over and defeated the Royals by a score of 7-1. This win brings the Mountaineers record to 5-9-1.
The first goal of the game came in the 18th minute when Stevie Riedley connected with Rebecca Schmidt. In the 34th minute Riedley grabbed another assist this time connecting with Jacquie Zimmerman to give the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead. The Mountaineer's offense continued to press and in the 39th minute Sohara Perez found the back of the net with an assist from Rebecca Schmidt. Berea headed into the half with a 3-0 lead over the Royals.
Berea continued to push and in the second half the Mountaineers scored 4 more goals. The goals were made by Rebecca Schmidt (assisted by Caitlin Taulbee), Jacquie Zimmerman (assisted by Keisha Guffey), Caroline Herbele and Kortney Halliburton (assisted by Jacquie Zimmerman). The Royals would score in the second half with a goal in the 66th minute. In the end the Mountaineers left Knoxville with a 7-1 win over the Royals.
The Mountaineers will be back in action at home on October, 25 when they take on the University of Pikeville at 5:00pm.
