Women's Track and Field Finish in 10th Place at University of Cumberlands Invitational

The women's track and field team made some significant strides at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational on Friday. Berea scored a total of 30 points and ranked 10th out of 22 competing schools. The meet consisted of one NCAA Division I school, six NCAA Division II schools, five NCAA Division III schools, eight NAIA schools and two with unknow affiliations. Berea boasts two first place, 10 points winners- Mercy Kershner blasted her opponents in the 5000m Run by running in 19:15.36 and Amber Sims took the Javelin Throw crown. Sims set the meet record for Javelin Throw when Berea competed in this meet last year at 36.13m and broke her own record with a 36.65m throw this year. 

Other point winners for the Mountaineers were:

Ami Callow, 400m Dash, 1:00.84, 5th Place- 4 points

Amy Angevine, Pole Vault, 2.89m, 5th Place- 4 points

Erica Woods, Long Jump, 4.83m, 8th Place- 2 points

The track and field team will compete again Friday, April 17th at the Centre Twilight Meet in Danville, KY.
