Indianapolis, IN- The women's indoor track and field team hit the track once again at the University of Indianapolis, this time competing in the Tom Hathaway Distance Carnival. The women continued to show progression with several hitting personal or season best at the meet.
Hurdlers, Annah Pierce, Kearstin Tingle and Courtney Flege all saw season best in the 60m hurdles. Grace Callow also knocked five seconds off her personal best 600m with a tenth place finish and a time of 1:52.23.
There were several more improvements made in the field events as well. Simone Brown continued to show improvement soaring to a season best 1.58m in the high jump. That jump would tie her for second in a field of 19. On the throws side both LeAnna Luney and Alaina Fox recorded season bests in the shot put, Fox's throw was a personal best by over one meter.
Senior Layne Callow continued to lower her time in the 800m finishing third with a time of 2:22.47 with freshman Jenna Hughes finishing close behind with a personal best of 2:28.49. Erin Gonterman continued her successful season with a 45 second PR in the 5k clocking a time of 19:14.69 Sydney Kyker also set a PR in the 5k with a time of 22:42.37.
Berea rounded up the night of competition with a 5th place finish in the women's 4x400. The relay team was made up of Layne Callow, Grace Callow, Gabriella Sabino and Jenna Hughes.
The Mountaineers head to Columbus, OH to compete in the Rick Meindl Invite hosted by Capital University. The meet is set to start at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 20th.
