COLUMBUS, OH- The Berea College Mountaineers traveled to the Rick Meindl Invitational hosted by Capital University this past Saturday. The Women's track and field team returned to the track with a competitive spirit, ending the night with some top finishers.
Cassandra McFadden made an impressive appearance in both the 60m and 200m. McFadden placed 10th in the 60m with a time of 8.26. She then finished the 200m with a time of 28.58, followed closely by teammate Rebecca Dixon with a time of 28.93.
Senior Layne Callow continued the trend with a 2nd place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:26.08. Her teammate Jenna Hughes finished 10th with a time of 2:32.60. Both Callow and Hughes hit the track again for the mile alongside teammate Erin Gonterman. Callow and Hughes both brought home PRs- Callow ran a 5:34.91 mile with a 6th place finish and Hughes ran a 5:46.46 mile. Erin Gonterman brought home a 10th place finish with a time of 5:42.28.
The night was then topped off with a second place finish in the 4x400 with a time of 4:17.89. The team was made up of Grace Callow, Layne Callow, Rebecca Dixon and Jenna Hughes. The women placed 12th of the 19 teams that competed in the meet.
The Mountaineers will compete at the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational in Anderson, Indiana this weekend to bring an end to the indoor season. The meet is set to start at 3:00 PM.
