Women's Track and Field Finish up Indoor Season with a 4th Place Finish at the Fred Wilt Invitational

ANDERSON, IN- The Berea College Mountaineers traveled to Anderson, Indiana for the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational this past weekend to bring an end to their indoor track and field season. And an end did they bring- the ladies brought home numerous PRs and placed 4th overall out of 16 teams!

Coming quick out of the blocks, sprinter Cassandra McFadden placed 10th in the 60m with a time of 8.32. Freshman Casey Tetidrick was shortly behind her with a PR of 9.01. McFadden hit the track running again in the 200m, earning a season best of 28.07, placing 7th overall. Teammate Rebecca Dixon followed McFadden with a time of 28.29. Tetidrick also earned a PR in the 200m with a time of 30.31. She shares the PR bragging rights with teammate Kearstin Tingle who also earned a PR in the 200m. Sophomore Grace Callow continued the PR trend in the 400m with a time of 1:06.31.

But the PRs didn't stop with the sprint squad. Senior Layne Callow brought home 2nd place in the 800m with a time of 2:26.06. Freshman Jenna Hughes was right behind Callow with a 3rd placed finish and a PR of 2:27.80. Gabriella Sabino followed Hughes with a 5th place finish and a time of 2:28.51. Meghan Kramer also set a season best in the 800 with a time of 2:52.53. Layne Callow earned another top spot in the mile with a 3rd place finish and a time of 5:35.99.

Adding some distance, Erin Gonterman placed 4th in the 3k with a time of 11:18.37. Sabino was right behind her with a 5th place finish and a PR with a time of 11:19.24. Syndey Kyker also earned a PR running 22:09.19  in the 5k. 

Hurdlers Simone Brown and Kearstin Tingle rung in more PRs for the lady Mountaineers. Brown ran a time of 11.18 and Tingle ran a time of 11.51 in the 60m hurdles.

On the Field side Simone Brown won the high jump with a height of 1.52m. Then Alaina Fox brought home a PR in the shot put with a throw of 9.16m.

It's safe to say that the Berea College Mountaineers brought a successful end to their indoor season. Look forward to more PRs in their outdoor season beginning with a trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the Emory Invitational on Friday, March 18th and 19th.
