Women's Track and Field Record Strong Showing at the Cumberlands Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, KY- In the fourth outdoor meet of the season, the Berea College women's track and field team traveled to Williamsburg, Kentucky to compete at the two day University of the Cumberland's Invitational Meet.

Our women's relay teams started off with a win in the 4x800 with the women running a time of 10:01.68. The relay team included freshman Jamie Welch, freshman Delaney Williams, senior Gabriella Sabino, and sophomore Jenna Hughes. The 4x100 team, consisting of freshman Alli Silas, sophomore Rebecca Dixon, freshman Kaylee Robinson, and sophomore Kierra Moore, earned 6th place and ran 51.28. And finally, our women's 4x400 earned 3rd place, and the women ran 4:11.98. This relay team was made up of senior Megan Hale, freshman Kaylee Robinson, freshman Delaney Williams, and sophomore Jenna Hughes.

Individual performances were led by sophomore Dove DeNigris' win in the 5,000 meters Run with her time of 18:47.58 and senior Gabriella Sabino's 2nd place finish with her time of 18:51.82. Freshman Jamie Welch placed 3rd in the 1500 meter run, running 5:00.05. Following was junior Erin Gonterman, who placed 9th and ran 5:15.53. In the 800 meter run Jenna Hughes and Megan Hale placed 7th and 9th while running 2:26.11 and 2:29.17. Freshman Ivanna Sabino placed 3rd in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 12:32.59. And finishing up was freshman Kaylee Robinson in the 200 meter dash, running a 26.71 and placing 9th.

The women will compete again in Danville, Kentucky at the Centre Twilight meet on Friday, April 14th.
