Berea Volleyball Goes 0-4 in Otterbein Tournament

Westerville, OH - Berea College Volleyball struggled to find success on the road in Ohio at the Otterbein Tournament as they went 0-4 for the weekend. 

Berea opened the tournament facing the host, Otterbein University. After a slow start dropping the first set 14-25, Berea seemed to find some momentum in the second set but eventually fell in three to the hosts. 

The Mountaineers fought hard in the second match of the day against Capital University. They Dropped the first set 16-25 but came back in the second to take it 25-20. The back and forth action continued as Capital came back to win the third set 18-25.  The Mountaineers had determination, fighting to win the fourth set 25-22 forcing a fifth set. Finding theirselves at a 9-1 deficit in the fifth they clawed their way back to 8-11 but eventually fell at 8-15. 

The second day of the tournament started with Berea facing Case Western Reserve. Berea started off slow during the first set.  The Mountaineers seemed to be a different team in the second set but could not find a way to finish and eventually fell to Case in three. 

In the last match of the tournament Berea faced Kenyon.  The Mountaineers fought hard each set but found themselves at an 18-25, 17,25, 20-25 loss. 

"It was a tough tournament" said Head Coach, Sonya Petroski. "There was a lot of great competition. We learned a lot about ourselves and we are going to take that knowledge into this next week to prepare for Hanover". 

Sydney Short ended the tournament with a .268 hitting percentage with 17 kills. Grace Callow put up 20 kills followed by Kyra Robinson added an additional 18 kills. Megan Keller dished up 50 assists and Freshman, Bailie Parker, added a team leading 54 digs for the weekend.
