Berea Goes 2-0 on First Day of Battlefield Classic.

Berea, KY - Berea ends the first day of the 2015 USCAA North vs. South Battlefield Classic 2-0. Since they won both their games they will be playing in the Gold Section of the tournament tomorrow.  Carlow and defending USCAA National Champions Florida College will also be in they Gold Section with Berea.

Berea started the tournament defeating Johnson & Wales (NC) in three sets.  Berea won the first set 25-14.  The second set was a bit tougher for the Mountaineers as they won 25-20.  In the third set Berea got the momentum back and took it 25-7.  Nichole Baker, Simone Brown and LeAnna Luney all had 7 kills.  Simone also lead the team in block assists with 5 and had a block solo.  Claire Muller picked up 14 assists and also had 10 digs and teammate Bailie Parker recorded a team high 14 digs.  

In the second game Berea defeated Illinois Tech 3-1.  The Mountaineers won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-20.  In the third set Illinois Tech was able to beat Berea 25-18 forcing the game into a fourth set.  In a great battle Berea ended up with the victory taking the set 25-19.   For the second game of the evening LeAnna Luney lead the team in kills posting 13.  Bailie Parker rounded up 23 digs and Megan Keller ended the game with a team high 21 assists.    

Games will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday with each team being placed in a new pool depending on win-loss record on first day.  The pools and game times of each team are listed below.
