Volleyball Goes 1-1 in Home Tri-Match

After a 3-0 road win against Alice Lloyd College Friday night, Berea returned home to host a tri-match against USCAA opponent Saint Mary of the Woods College Pomeroys and NCAA Division III opponent Wilmington College Quakers.

In their first match of the day, the Mountaineers took on St. Mary of the Woods College. Berea seemed like they were going to make quick work of the Pomeroys as the Blue Crew won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-19. But St. Mary of the Woods would steal the momentum the Mountaineers gained in the first two sets and use it to win the last three sets to win the match.

Berea was led in kills by sophomore Sydney Short with 10. Senior Megan Keller led with 14 assists while sophomore Destiney Balser led Berea with 19 digs.

In the second match of the day for the Blue Crew, they faced off against the Quakers. Berea's fortune reversed in this match as they would sweep Wilmington College 3-0, with winning scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-16.

Senior Nicole Baker led the Mountaineers in kills with nine. Berea's assist leader for the game collected 15 assists, belonging to sophomore Claire Mueller while Balser claimed her second straight game as digs leader by gathering 13 digs.

With the win, the Blue Crew moves to 11-9 on the season. Berea will return to action this coming Tuesday, October 6th as they travel to Wilmore, KY to take on Asbury University. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
