Berea, KY- Berea volleyball returned home after traveling to Asbury University to take on the Cougars of the University of Cincinnati-Clermont.
Both teams got off to a strong start in the first set, but the Mountaineers killed themselves with errors in the set, helping the Cougars take the first set 25-22. In the second set, Berea came out on a mission as they quickly raced out to a 9-3 lead that caused the Cincinnati-Clermont coach to call a time-out. The Blue Crew finished the set strong as they won the second set 25-16.
As they did in the second set, Berea raced out to a quick 7-1 lead in the third set, but this time the Cougars responded by going on a 4-1 run to force a Mountaineers time out, leading 8-5. A service error by Cincinnati-Clermont ended the momentum they had gained on their run, as Berea closed out the third set 25-18. The fourth set looked like it was going to down to the wire between the two teams, as the teams were exchanging points. With Berea leading 19-17, the Mountaineers would end the game on a 6-1 run to win the fourth set 25-18 and get their 12th win of the season.
Senior Kyra Robinson and sophomore Simone Brown lead the team in kills with 10 each. The assist leader for the team was senior Megan Keller, who collected 13 assists. Megan also had 10 digs for the Mountaineers giving her a double double for the day. Robinson also led the team in blocks assists with five. The team was lead in digs by freshman Bailie Parker, who finished with 12.
