Louisville, KY - The Berea College women's volleyball team traveled north to Louisville, KY last night to take on the Spalding Golden Eagles. The Mountaineers let a two game lead slip as they lost to the Golden Eagles 3-2.
Berea came out ready to play taking the first game 25-20. In that game the Mountaineers put up 14 kills with only 4 errors. The second set went just as well for Berea as they won the set 25-15. Spalding was able to grab the next two sets with a score of 25-21 and 25-23. With a tie score of 2-2 the game would go to a fifth set. In a very close back and forth match the Golden Eagles were able to out score the Mountaineers 15-11.
Alaina Fox lead the Mountaineers in Kills with 12. Alaina also picked up 3 block solos and 2 block assists. Claire Muller led the team in assists with 15 and also picked up 9 digs. Leading the team in digs was Bailie Parker with 12.
"We got caught on our heels and let this game slip through our fingers," said head coach Sonya Petroski.
The Mountaineers will be back in action at home Thursday, October 29th where they will take on the Midway Eagles. It will be senior night for the Mountaineers so come out and support the seniors in there last home game of their college career!
