Saint Mary of the Woods, IN- The volleyball team returned to the road to partake in the Saint Mary of the Woods College USCAA tournament. The tournament consists of five teams all from the USCAA, guaranteeing the Mountaineers play four games. In their first day of the tournament, the team finished with a 1-1 record.
Their first match up took place against the Wright State University-Lake Lakers and Berea came out hot. The team zoomed through the first set by a score of 25-11. The second set followed the dominant fashion the opening set showed, as the Mountaineers took a 2-0 lead off a score of 25-14.
Wright State University-Lake overcame the momentum from Berea, winning the third set of the match 25-19. The dominance of the Mountaineers returned in the fourth set, as they ended the contest with a 25-10 win, taking the match 3-1 and giving the team their fifth win of the season. Isabelle Haverty led the way in kills for Berea, finishing with 12 kills. The assist leader for the Mountaineers was Claire Mueller with 30. On the defensive side, Bailie Parker was the team leader in digs with 22 while Haverty finished with five block solos.
The second match of the day came against the host team, the Saint Mary of the Woods College Pomeroys. The tides changed as Berea could not mount any offense in the contest as the Pomeroys won the match 3-0. Addie Bowman finished the match with a team high four kills while Mueller finished with nine assists. The leader in digs for Berea was Parker, finishing with 11.
The second day of the tournament sees the Mountaineers face Illinois Institute of Technology and Rochester University (Mich.)
