Berea College Cross Country kicks off their 2014 campaigns at Queen City Invitational.
The Berea College men's and women's cross country seasons kicked off today in grand fashion at the Queen City Invitational held in Cincinnati, OH. The Queen City is hosted on a rotating basis by three NCAA Division I schools - Northern Kentucky University (the 2014 hosts), University of Cincinnati and Xavier University; and features competitors representing NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III as well the NAIA. The Mountaineers more than held their own!
On the first meet of the season, the Berea College men's cross country team finished in 11th place out of 24 schools. Versus NCAA DIII competition finished third behind nationally ranked Wabash College (IN) - currently ranked 18th in the Division III poll - and Centre College who finished in 10th position, just ahead of Berea. The event was won by NCAA Division I - Eastern Kentucky University. On the women's side, the team finished in 15th place out of 21 schools, but 5th in comparison to other NCAA Division III schools. The event title went to NCAA Division I - Eastern Kentucky University, giving them a championship double dip.
