10 teams from NAIA, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III institutions set to compete.
The Berea College Cross Country program is set to host its annual invitational on Saturday. The men will race a 5-mile course; while the women will tackle a 5-K course. The course itself is set among the trails and fringes of Berea College's 140 acre campus. It features several elevation changes, soggy bottoms and flat areas for runners to make aggressive moves.
The invitational will feature 10 teams in both men's and women's divisions. The schools competing include NCAA Division II: Kentucky State, Lincoln Memorial, West Virginia State and Virginia-Wise. NAIA schools competing include: Union, Campbellsville, Georgetown, Tennessee Wesleyan and St. Catherines; while Berea stands as the only NCAA Division III school in the field.
The men's division will begin at 10:00 am from the start/finish area located on Alumni Field which is due south of the Berea College Alumni Building. The women will hit the trail at 11:00 am from the same location. There is no GPS address for this area, but it is located south of the intersection of Propsect St - Route 21 and South Main Street/Scaffold Cane Rd - Rt 595.
