Mountaineers Race to a 2nd place Finish at BC/CC Jamboree

Berea, KY – The women's cross country team opened up their season at home with the 1st annual Berea/Centre College Jamboree.  The Mountaineers finished 2nd place out of 8 scoring teams, 16 points behind team champion Centre College, with an average team time of 12:35 for the 2 mile course.

The Mountaineers and Colonels started a new tradition at this 1st annual Berea/Centre meet.  The two teams were scored separate as a dual meet and the winner was awarded with "the cup".  This trophy will travel back to the winner's campus each year.  The trophy will travel to Danville as the Colonels topped the Mountaineers by a score of 23-33 in the dual meet scoring.

"I was really proud of determination these ladies showed this weekend" said Head Coach Jakubowski.  "Since it was only a 2 mile race the goal was to get out fast the first mile and put ourselves in position to win the race and they did that perfectly."

The Mountaineers are back in action next Saturday, September 10th when they travel to the Centre College Invitational.
