Owesnboro, KY – The Berea College women's cross country team competed in the Fast Cats Classic hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan. Our women's team placed 3rd overall and second in the Kentucky Cup. The Mountaineers posted a team average of 20:25 finishing behind Centre and Christian Brothers.
The women's team was led by Jr. Dove DeNigirs. DeNigris was 18th overall and ran a solid time of 19:58 making that the second time she has gone under the 20 minute barrier this season. So. Delaney Williams followed close behind Dove with a 19 palace finish and a season best time of 20:05. Fr. Abigail Schlenker ran a great race to finish 3rd for Berea placing 31 with a season best of 20:31. Rounding out the scoring for the Mountaineers was Jr. Erin Gonterman in 35th (20:40) and So. Ivanna Sabino in 41st (20:52).
Other finishers for the Mountaineers were: Jenna Hughes with a season best 20:58 (43rd), So. Hayley Clark 21:19 (53rd), So. Caitlyn Roberts 21:46 (61st), Fr. Tylan Eastham with a season best 22:25 (76th), Jr. Asia Foster 22:25 (77th), Fr. Sydney Shackleford with a season best 24:11 (93rd), Sr. Jillian Kendall 25:06 (99th) and Jr. Brena Griffin with a season best 28:21 (109th).
Berea will travel to Wilmington, OH to race in the #JennaStrong Invitational on Friday, October 13th.
