Volleyball sweeps Alice Lloyd for first win of 2014

Berea uses 21 service aces to sweep Alice Lloyd for first win of the season.

 

Former KIAC rivals faced off in Pippa Passes, tonight as the Alice Lloyd Eagles played host to Berea College.  The Mountaineers proved to be rude guests as they swept the Eagles in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19. 

The Mountaineers used a lethal serving attack to control the match from the outset amassing 21 service aces.  Freshman setter Claire Mueller racked up five aces, followed by fellow freshman, Sydney Short and junior Aliana Fox each had four.  Every member of the Berea College squad took part in the action.  Other team highs included Blocks - three by junior Kyra Robinson, Kills – four by both Simone Brown and Robinson.

The Mountaineers won't have long to savor their success as Tennessee Wesleyan comes to the Upper Seabury Gymnasium for the Blue Crew's home opener on Thursday, September 4th at 7:00 pm.
