Box Score 2 Berea, KY - Today concluded the second and final day of play for the 2015 USCAA North vs. South Battlefield Classic. In the final day Berea went 1-1 making them 3-1 for the entire tournament.
In the first game Berea faced USCAA #5 Carlow. It did not look good for the Mountaineers early as they lost the first two sets 23-25 and 25-20. In the third set Berea was able to get things rolling and take the set 25-20. In the forth set they kept things rolling and ran away with it 25-12 forcing a fifth and final set. Berea went up early and stopped a late drive by Carlow and won the set 15-12. Sydney Short lead the Mountaineers in Kills with an impressive 16 and also put up 13 digs. Megan Keller lead the team in assists with 22. Bailie Parker had 4 service aces as well as 20 digs. The mountaineers did a great job protecting the net and were lead by Simone Brown with 8 block assists and 2 solo blocks and Alaina Fox who had 7 block assists and 2 solo blocks.
In the second game Berea faced defending USCAA National Champions Florida College. In this game Berea only had a short amount of time to rest between matches and Florida College took advantage of it winning the first set 25-13. Berea came out stronger in the second set but could not find the energy to win the set and lost 16-25. In the third set Berea came out fighting and led most of the set. In the end Florida was able to come back and win the final set 25-22. Nichole Baker led the Mountaineers in Kills with 5 and also added 2 block solos as well as 2 block assists. Bailie Parker grabbed an impressive 25 digs and Megan Keller lead the team in assists with 11.
