Brevard, NC- The Berea women's soccer team traveled to Brevard College on Saturday, but the Mountaineers struggled to find their offense and fell to the Tornados 7-0. Brevard's Megan Shina, Caroline David and Ashley Hughes led Brevard in their scoring effort, while Tornado goalie Hannah Weatherall stopped four in the win.

It was a slow start on both sides of the field for the teams. Only three shots by the Tornados was all the offense until Brevard got on the board, at the 24 minute mark, with a goal from Shina. David added the second goal at 38:55 to close out the half to take the 2-0 lead over Berea, into the break.

The Tornados wasted no time in putting the pressure on the Mountaineers. Over the first five minutes of the second half, Brevard had two shots, three corner kicks followed by two quick goals from Shina and David to extend their lead to 4-0. The Mountaineers' offense continued to struggle and Brevard's unwillingness to give Berea any chances kept the Tornados on top. Soon, three more goals were added for Brevard to make it 7-0 and take the victory.

Brevard had 22 shots to Berea's five, as well as an advantage of 6-4 in corner kicks. Berea's goalie Amber Follin had 10 saves for the Mountaineers.

Monday's home contest is postponed against Spalding and will be rescheduled for a later date. The Mountaineers will hit the pitch next, when they head to Maryville Thursday, September 27th for a 7 p.m. start time.
