Women's Soccer Wins OT Thriller Behind Fojtek, Tittsworth

Atlanta, GA – Freshman Alyssa Tittsworth (Oak Ridge, TN) scored three times for the women's soccer team and sophomore Corinne Fojtek (London, KY) nailed the game-winning goal in overtime as Berea College defeated Wesleyan 5-4 Sunday afternoon in Macon, GA.

The Wolves jumped out to the early 2-0 lead before Tittsworth netted her first goal of the game at the 17:28 mark in the first half.  Less than a minute later, Tittsworth tied the ballgame on an assist by junior Abigail Hansford (Athens, TN).  Wesleyan would score again at the 30:00 mark and shortly after the half to take a 4-2 lead.  But Tittsworth's third goal of the game pulled Berea back within one.  Then, in the 73rd minute of the game, sophomore Hannah Howell (Russell, KY) scored off a Tittsworth pass to tie the game at 4-4, forcing overtime.

Just 23 seconds into the overtime period, Fojtek scored on an assist by senior Bailee Vanover (Richmond, KY) to give Berea the win, their second of the weekend.

Berea totaled 35 shots in the game and recorded 10 saves.

The Mountaineers (5-10, 3-3 USA-S) have won consecutive games for the first time this season and will look to keep the winning streak alive this Thursday at home against Mississippi University for Women.  Kick-off for the game will take place at 7:00 PM.
