Berea, KY – The Berea College men's basketball team overcame a 12-point second half deficit and defeated Miami University – Hamilton 84-80 in overtime Tuesday afternoon in the Seabury Center.
Eight different Mountaineers played significant minutes and contributed to the team's win. Sophomore
Trey Minter (Louisville, KY) led all scorers with 29 points. Junior
Isaac Caudill (Blackley, KY) played all 45 minutes, notching a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while dishing out eight assists. Senior
Terique Miller (Richmond, KY) also had eight assists to go along with 12 points. Freshman
Jarel Montgomery (Bardstown, KY) provided a huge spark off the bench, playing 31 minutes and contributing 12 points. Sophomore
Tyler Boggs (Whitesburg, KY) grabbed nine boards for the Mountaineers.
For the game, Berea held a slight rebounding edge (49-43) and made 12 three-pointers. The Mountaineers also forced 14 turnovers, only committed seven, and held a 27-7 advantage in fast-break points.
The win for Berea (4-5, 0-1 USA-S) comes in their final home game of the fall semester. The Mountaineers travel to Richmond, IN, on Wednesday to play Earlham College at 5:30 PM before a match-up with Franklin College Friday night at 5:00 PM.
