Franklin, IN – Franklin College jumped out to an early advantage enroute to an 87-64 win over the Berea College men's basketball team Thursday evening.
The Grizzlies converted 55% of their shots in the first half, including 9-13 from three-point range, to take a commanding 49-21 lead at the half. The Mountaineers tallied just nine buckets in the opening half of play. Berea battled throughout the second half, making nearly 50% of their shots from the floor, but were just 1-12 from long-range keeping them from mounting a significant comeback. While the Mountaineers were able to force 17 turnovers, Berea was out-rebounded 51-27 throughout the contest.
Three Mountaineers netted double figures in scoring, led by junior
Isaac Caudill (Blackley, KY) with 17 points. Sophomore
Kevion Hudson (Louisville, KY) and freshman
Trey Minter (Louisville, KY) added 10 points each. Senior
Terique Miller (Richmond, KY) grabbed a team-high six rebounds and chipped in eight points.
The Mountaineers close out the fall semester with a 4-7 record, including an 0-1 mark in USA South conference play. After a break for the Christmas holiday, the team will return to the hardwood on January 8 when they face former KIAC-rival Asbury University. Tip-off for that non-conference matchup will be 3:00 PM in Wilmore, KY.
