St. Louis, MO – Washington University defeated the Berea College women's basketball team 81-63 Saturday afternoon in the McWilliams Classic.
Berea went 8-15 from the floor in the opening quarter to build a 23-21 lead after the first. But the Mountaineers turned the ball over 18 times and shot just 27% the rest of the game in the loss. Washington held significant advantages on points in the paint (42-30) and fast-break points (17-3).

Aaliyah Hampton (Hopkinsville, KY) led all scorers with 23 points and eight rebounds for Berea. Sophomore
Destiny Combs (Louisville, KY) added 17 points and six rebounds, with senior
Bailee Vanover (Richmond, KY) netting 11. Senior
Destanie Love (Bardstown, KY) also grabbed eight boards for the Mountaineers.
Berea (6-3, 3-0 USAS) will have a quick turnaround in the revised McWilliams Classic. The Mountaineers will face the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 12:00 PM Sunday afternoon.
