Mountaineers Lose on the Road to the Hawks

HUNTINGDON, AL. – The Mountaineers fell to Huntingdon College 78-68 to open up the season series with the Hawks. The Mountaineers played a close back and forth game that had 6 lead changes. The Mountaineers were led by reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, Freshman Trey Minter (Louisville, KY).

The Mountaineers were led by Freshman Trey Minter (Louisville, KY), who had a team high 20 points and added 3 assists. Minter was 7-13 from the field, also going 2-6 on from beyond the arc. Minter continues to be the offensive focal point of this year's offense, making this the 4th straight game where he led the Mountaineers in points. Behind Minter was senior Terique Miller (Richmond, KY), who had the his highest offensive production of the season, scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Miller shot 6-11 from the field and 6-11 from beyond the arc. M.J. Embree (Buffalo, KY), also scored 8 points for the Mountaineers, adding 6 rebounds. Tyler Boggs also added 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.

The Huntingdon Hawks were led by Ceaunte Zachery who scored 20-points points and added 6 rebounds. Cameron shot 8-12 from the field, going 4-5 from the charity stripe. Sam Page also added 12 points, shooting 4-8 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc. The Panthers shot 47% from the field and outrebounded the Mountaineers 37-32.

The Mountaineers had their most efficient offensive production of the year, shooting 49.1% from the field, and 38.1% from beyond the arc. The Mountaineers only converted 6-10 free throws (60%). Mountaineers defensively strugged in the paint, giving up 32 points.

Up next, the Mountaineers will play at Huntingdon College for their 2nd game of the two game series tomorrow. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 PM.
