BEREA, KY. – The Mountaineers celebrated the season finale of the 2020-2021 season with a thriller of a double overtime win against Brevard College Tornados.  The Mountaineers won by the score of 82-80.  Terique Miller and MJ Embree were the leading scorers for the Mountaineers, scoring 47-points combined.

The Mountaineers were led by Senior Terique Miller, with 26 points in the game with 13 rebounds. Miller also had three steals. Not far behind Terigue Miller was MJ Embree, with 21 points and 14 rebounds. He was 13-16 from the free throw line.  The other senior on the team, Deandre Lightfoot scored 19-points with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Brevard College Tornados were led by Ladji Samoura, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. The Tornados also had two other players in double digits, David Sealy and Hayden Cassell. 

The Mountaineers went into halftime behind by 10 to the Tornados.  In the second half, they came out strong by outscoring the Brevard Tornados 40 to 30.  Berea's strong play in the final 10 minutes of the game allowed the Mountaineers to push the game into overtime, despite being down for majority of the game. During the first overtime, both teams scored an additional 8 points making the score 72-72.  During the second overtime, the Mountaineers were able to outlast the Tornadoes, making the Mountaineers victorious by a score of 82-80.

The Mountaineers ended their COVID-19 season with a victory.  This season had lots of changes because of the pandemic but all players worked really hard to make the best season they could.  This victory will be a great beginning going into next year's season.
