The Mountaineers were able to go the distance against #8 Centre College on the road to start the season with a 0-0 draw. The Mountaineers played over an hour with just 10 men, after Jean Paul Nunez was given a red card. The Mountaineers were able to create an impenetrable defense where the Colonels were unable to break through.
 
The Mountaineers were only able to register 3 shots on goal, but recorded 5 saves in the game.
