Mountaineers Draw Against Piedmont

BEREA, Ky. – The Berea College men's soccer team battled the Piedmont University Lions, resulting in a 3-3 tie with the opposition. The Mountaineers sit at 7-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in CCS play.

Enter the 10th minute, and senior Christoff Mendy opened up, heading a magnificent cross into the back of the net with the assist by junior Jean Paul Nunez from the corner kick. Shortly after, the Lions forward, Jason Aussie, scores by capitalizing on an unprecedented miscue to equalize the match, making it 1-1.

During the 30th minute, senior Junior Gyamfi finds sophomore Julio Vargas-Aguilera, who applies pressure to the pass, tucking away a goal against Lion's keeper Colin Sheeler. Following halftime, Vargas-Aguilera strikes another goal with a complementary assist by Nunez in the 50th minute.

Albeit, the Lions showcased a valiant effort by scoring two goals within 2 minutes to make the match even more exhilarating. Although the Mountaineers met the Lions halfway, accounting for three goals each, they keep their heads high, hosting the Maryville Scots at home Tuesday, October 4. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. following the women's soccer match.
