Softball Comes Short of Splitting Day Three of The Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Berea College softball team suffered a pair of losses as they fell 7-0 to Swarthmore College and 3-2 to Marywood University on Tuesday afternoon.

BEREA COLLEGE VS. SWARTHMORE COLLEGE
The Berea College Mountaineers started off slow losing to Swarthmore College 7-0. The Mountaineer offense recorded 3 hits from seniors Juliann Kirby and Ashley Spencer, along with a hit from freshman Hayleigh Gnagie. Freshman pitcher Autumn Adams had three strikeouts and threw four shutout innings.

BEREA COLLEGE VS. MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY
The Mountaineers took a tough loss against Marywood University with a final score of 3-2. Freshman Hayleigh Gnagie started off strong with an RBI single. The Pacers answered back tying the game 1-1 in the second inning. Marywood pushed their lead further scoring two more runs in the fourth inning.

Senior Savannah Fallis and Freshman Hayleigh Gnagie along with Madison McIntosh worked together to push another run across for the Mountaineers in the sixth inning. Freshman pitcher Madison McIntosh pitched the full game ending with six strikeouts.

The Mountaineers enjoy a day off before returning to action on Thursday as they battle Capital University at 10:15 p.m. and The Sage Colleges at 12:30 p.m. in Clermont, Fla.
