Softball Splits Final Home Series Against Miami-Hamilton

BEREA, Ky. - The Berea College Mountaineers lost their first game against the Miami University-Hamilton Harriers 5-2. The Harriers put up two runs in the first inning, scoring both on errors by the Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers responded by scoring two runs of their own with a sacrifice RBI from senior Savannah Fallis and an RBI single from senior Caroline Nelson. In the second inning, the Harriers scored three more runs. The offense for both teams was silent after the second inning, ending the game with a final score of 5-2.

The Mountaineers defeated the Harriers in the 2nd game of the series 8-4. The Mountaineer bats were hot scoring five runs within first three innings from an RBI double from freshman Hayleigh Gnagie, and two RBIs by senior Fallis.

The Harriers scored two of their own in the fourth inning bringing the score to 6-2 in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the Mountaineers scored two more runs off an RBI double from freshman Madison McIntosh and a 2 RBI single from Nelson. The Harriers scored 2 runs over the last 2 innings of the game with the final score being 8-4.

The Mountaineers wrap up their 2022 season on Saturday when they take on the number one team in the USA South Athletic Conference West Division standing, Piedmont University. First pitch is slated for 9 a.m.
