Berea, Ky. – The Berea College men's soccer team had an exhilarating game this weekend, scoring three goals in the final 12 minutes of the match to down Franklin College 3-2 on Saturday afternoon
.
The Mountaineers had a slow start to the game. During the first half, the Grizzlies came out strong scoring two goals, along with astonishing defense which held the Mountaineers down without a goal in the first half. It was a very competitive match and the Mountaineers needed to figure out what to do to be able to break the Grizzles defense.
The Mountaineers started the second half out still lagging behind the Grizzles, but they did not give up. With just twelve minutes left in the game, senior
Junior Gyamfi had an amazing assist which led senior
Max Jr. to be able to give the mountaineers their first goal of the game. Not even a minute later, Jr. scored Berea's second goal which was also assisted by Gyamfi. The two had two back-to-back amazing plays to be able to tie the game up with just a few minutes left of the game. Gyamfi scored the winning goal off of a penalty kick which gives Berea their fourth win of the season leaving them 4-1-2.
The Berea College men's soccer team will face Warren Wilson College this Tuesday, September 20th in Ashville N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
