BEREA, Ky.- The Mountaineers had their first home game this Saturday against Oakland City University. Sadly, the Mountaineers could not open their first home game with a win. The Mountaineers fell 7-1 to the Mighty Oaks.
The Mighty Oaks started strong scoring their first and second goals within the 25-minute mark of the first half. Berea continued to trail as Oakland City knocked in one more goal before the half was over. Thankfully, junior
Gabrielle Scott scored for the Mountaineers, leaving the score 3-1 going into halftime.
Berea continued to struggle in the second half as Oakland City scored four more goals ending the game at 7-1. The Mountaineers struggled to shoot, only connecting one out of seven shots, while the Mighty Oaks converted seven out of 13 shots. Berea recorded two corner kicks, three saves, and five fouls.
The Berea College women's soccer team will have another chance to bring home a win against Franklin College on Sunday, September 4th, at 1:00 p.m at the Berea College Soccer Field.
