Box Score Berea, KY. - Berea College exceeds expectations in front of the homecoming crowd, defeating Spalding University by a score of 76-40.
The Women's Basketball team jumped out to a 11-0 lead over Spalding University. By the end of the first quarter, Berea had continued to build their lead up to a score of 26-11, following
LynKaylah James and
Jayden Merriweather's 8 points. The second quarter was kicked off by
Dailyn Spalding scoring a jumper and then dishing an assist to
Jayden Merriweather who scored a three point shot. Jayden scored yet another three point after an assist from
Drea Satori.Â
Madison Howell scored her first points of the game on a assisted three as well, capping off an explosive second quarter. The score being 43-19, Mountaineers on top.Â
The third quarter featured
Atyia Moss hitting an open three as well as a jumper and a layup. Neveah Bates recorded two assists to Merriweather and Moss, giving them chances to drill threes back to back. This put Berea up 56-21. The Eagles ended the quarter with a three, moving the score to 66-33.
Ashyia Maddickes and
Alexis McCullough drove in for layups near the end of the fourth to score 2 points each. Defense held up for the rest of the game leading to a ending score of 76-40.
