Men's Basketball Fall Short Against Mount Union

St. Petersburg, FL - The Berea Mountaineers faced the Raiders of Mount Union falling short, 93-64 at the McArthur Center on Tuesday night.

Right from the opening tip-off, Mount Union exerted their dominance on the court, quickly establishing a 9-2 lead within the first four minutes. The Raiders extended their advantage to 13 points over the next five and a half minutes, putting the Mountaineers on the back foot. However, Berea showcased their resilience and determination, embarking on a spirited 10-0 run that brought the score to a competitive 21-18 with 7:10 remaining in the first half.

Despite Berea's impressive response, Mount Union answered with a surge of their own, embarking on a 15-6 run to close out the first half and secure a 38-24 lead heading into halftime. The Raiders displayed their offensive firepower and defensive prowess, leaving the Mountaineers with a challenging task in the second half.

The start of the second half saw Mount Union continue their dominant form, embarking on a composed 14-1 run within the first 2:35 minutes. This extended their lead to a commanding 52-25 advantage. However, the resilient Mountaineers did not back down, launching a commendable 12-4 run of their own to narrow the deficit to 17 points with 12:38 left in the game.

Trey Minter put on an impressive display of offensive skills, leading the team in scoring with 16 points.Throughout the game, Demetris Phillips leading the team with 6 rebounds and scoring 11 points. Kevion Hudson contributed 10 points to the team's total. 

The Mountaineers are back in action, December 20th in St. Petersburg, FL against Bethel University. Tip Off is at 7:00 PM EST.
